======================== * HERE IS A LIST OF ALL THE EASTER EGGS THAT CAN BE FOUND IN DNF_BTTG.MAP * ========================
=============================================================================================================================

Since my maps are always full of easter eggs and private jokes noone ever since to get I thought I would throw in a list of
the ones this map features. It's always fun to figure them out by yourself rather than relying on spoilers though, so go play
the map a couple of times, see what you can find, and if you need an explanation, come back and look it up here.

- the poster on the far right of the back wall of the first bedroom is a recreation of the cover art of the Throwing Muses'
1996 album 'Limbo' : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limbo_(album) - more info on the band to be found here :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Throwing_Muses . The poster on the left is a recreation of a picture shot by artist Ed Templeton
used as the cover of his book 'The Golden Age of Neglect', more info to be looked up here :
http://www.amazon.com/Ed-Templeton-Golden-Age-Neglect/dp/8888493026

- the poster in the kitchen is a recreation of the cover art of french concept band Stupeflip's debut album :
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61PF6XQWF1L._SS500_.jpg - also in that very kitchen, little letter-shaped magnets on
the fridge say 'OOSTRUMZ' as a reference to the Oostrum brothers (authors of masterpieces such as the Red series, ABBA,
Clear the Coast etc.) and their colored mapping style. A writing above the door to the bedroom says 'bedtime for democracy'
which is the name of the fourth album released by the Dead Kennedys : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bedtime_for_Democracy

- hidden behind a bush on the concrete wall next to the first building is a message saying 'James has no humor' that looks
like it's been pissed on. While I will keep the identity of the person this is referring to unknown, his possible reaction
will either prove me wrong or not.

- the design of the two little houses near the starting point are both based on the notorious 'Dogville event' that shook
up the Duke Nukem 3D community a couple of years back. Basically what happened then is one of my favorite mappers Taivo
Maaripuu released a map 'heavily inspired' (to say the least) by the work of another one of my favorite mappers and author
of the famous Roch maps, Pascal Rouaud. Pascal got in touch with Taivo and talked him into banning his own map from the
community because of the obvious resemblances, despite how great it happened to be, which divided the opinion of the
community. This event is still occasionally talked about today (especially now that the controversial map has been
rereleased) and since I've always found it amusing and it's been a laughing stock amongst the community for ages, I thought
I would dedicate a part of my map to it. Note that the room in Pascal's house is a direct and blatant copy of one of the
computer rooms he built in 'Roch 8' : http://msdn.planetduke.gamespy.com/hotroch81.jpg

- the door that says '249B' is a reference to the men's club located at 249B East Thirty-fifth in several novels by
Stephen King. Also, the name of a huge portion of the map ('The Barrens') is a direct reference to the 'Barrens' the
Losers always go exploring in Stephen King's legendary novel 'It'.

- right in front of that very door is an unfinished graffiti on the wall of the police office that says 'I fought the law
and I wo....'. This is a reference to, and a recreation of a stencil design made by notorious urban artist Bansky :
http://www.prescriptionart.com/images/uploads/banksy/iftl.jpg which itself borrows its inspiration fromthe Dead Kennedys'
cover of the famous Clash's song 'I Fought The Law'. It's to be noted that the Clash's original song says 'I fought the law
and the law won' whereas when the Dead Kennedys covered it, they changed the lyrics to 'I fought the law and I won'.

- behind a bush near the concert hall is a half-buried dead corpse next to a box of steroids, above which a subtle writing
on the wall says 'nobody fucks with the Jesus', which is a subtle reference to the character Jesus Quintana in the movie
'The Big Lebowski'. Also, the concert hall is called 'Le Phare' (which literally translates to 'The Lighthouse'), which also
happens to be the name of a little concert hall in Toulouse, southern France, where I actually got to see NOFX, Pour Habit
and The Flatliners live last month. NOFX and Pour Habit were awesome, on the other hand the Flatliners were fucking terrible
and massively boo'd everytime they would start playing a new song, which was pretty hilarious.

- backstage in the concert hall, while walking past the curtains Duke can be heard saying 'you guys suck'. This is a
reference to the name of the band's two official live albums, respectively 'I Heard They Sucked Live' (1995) and 'They've
Actually Gotten Worse Live' (2007). In the storage room you can find a poster which is a recreation of the cover art of
punk / blues / psychedelic band Zen Guerrilla's 1998 album 'Positronic Raygun' :
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31JmAeRle5L._SL500_AA170_.jpg , as well as a discarded sign that says
'Nancsi', a little private joke referring to how Maarten van Oostrum and I were forced to change the name of one of our
former maps originally called 'Nancsi Pleaser' to 'AMC Pleaser' a couple of months ago when part of the community rejected
the name.

- behind the shopping carts, on one of the walls of the supermarket is written 'freedom lika shoppin cart'. This is a direct
reference to the title and lyrics of an older song by NOFX.

- the design of the house with the little private garden next to the supermarket is inspired by the look of houses in my
neighborhood I already recreated in Duke many years ago in some of my first solid maps : Anarchy City 1 & 2
http://msdn.planetduke.gamespy.com/hotanarchycity2.jpg

- the scripted sequence in the concert hall borrows a lot of inspiration from classic massacres in discos and concert halls
as regularly portrayed in horror novels (ie. Stephen King's 'Carrie') and (usually Z-)movies.

- you can only see that one in Build / Mapster except if you DNCLIP through the door in game, but in the police hall can
be found a poster that says 'Have You Seen Him ?', which is a direct reference to fictional character 'Animal Chin'
http://static8.servers.fuel.tv/8/EW/U/UU/UU3/UU3.SearchForAnimalCHIN2.jpg.16478.2.sync.jpg who represents the embodiment and
epitome of integrity in the skateboarding culture

And I must be missing out some more.
